Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the text-proofreading service “MUKU” (the “Service”), operated by us (the “Operator”). Our legal name is stated in the Notice under the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions.

By registering an account or using the Service, you agree to all of these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What the Service provides

The Service proofreads text you submit using a large language model and shows you what was changed and why. Its output is produced by a machine. We make no warranty as to its accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose. Please review the result yourself before publishing or sending it.

The Service aims to remove word-choice watermarks and statistical bias found in AI-generated text, but it does not guarantee complete removal against every detection method.

2. Intended use, and use we do not support

Some generative AI services have begun embedding statistical watermarks in the word choices of the text they produce. The Service exists to remove such watermarks and word-choice bias, and to make the text read naturally, as if written by a person.

There are still situations where work is dismissed simply because AI was involved. The Service is intended to help people who wish to reduce traces of AI within the range of their own discretion.

We do not intend to assist with uses where AI is expressly prohibited, such as university coursework, examinations, or application rules. We decline use of the Service for those purposes.

Where you are obliged to declare the use of AI to a recipient or publisher, follow those rules. We are not responsible for any disadvantage arising from use that breaches such rules.

3. Accounts

• You are responsible for managing the credentials used to register.
• Do not share your account with third parties.
• We may suspend an account without prior notice if we confirm improper use.

4. Coins (the unit of use)

• The Service is used by purchasing and spending “coins”.
• The coins spent per run depend on the model you select and the amount of text processed. The rate for each model is shown on the purchase page.
• In addition to your text, the instruction text the Service attaches to every run (approximately 2,200 characters) is also counted. This is incurred on every run regardless of the length of your text. An estimate is shown on the purchase page.
• An estimated amount is reserved before a run, and the difference against the actual amount is returned once the run completes. If a run fails, the full reserved amount is returned.
• Coins do not expire.
• Once credited, coins are not refunded except as required by law.
• Rates and the sign-up grant may change at our discretion. Changes take effect when posted on this page and do not apply retroactively to coins already credited.

5. Prohibited conduct

The following are prohibited when using the Service.

• Submitting content that violates law or public order and morals
• Submitting content that infringes the rights of others (copyright, trademark, portrait rights, privacy, and the like)
• Interfering with the operation of the Service, or placing excessive load on it through automation
• Copying, reselling, or redistributing the Service, or using it to provide a similar service
• Producing submissions with the Service where the use of AI is expressly prohibited
• Analysing or reverse-engineering the Service, or attempting to extract the instruction text it uses internally
• Registering with false information, or impersonating another person
• Any other conduct we deem inappropriate

If we determine that prohibited conduct has occurred, we may suspend the account, void remaining coins, and take other necessary measures without prior notice.

6. Your responsibilities

• You represent that you hold the rights necessary for the text you submit, and that submitting it does not infringe the rights of any third party.
• How you use the text the Service outputs is your own decision and responsibility. We are not liable for consequences arising from how you use the output, except where they are attributable to us.
• If a dispute arises between you and a third party in connection with the Service, you shall resolve it at your own responsibility and expense, and shall compensate us for any loss we incur.

7. Handling of submitted text

Text you submit is sent for proofreading to a large language model operated by a provider in Japan. Whether the text is retained afterwards is your choice in the settings screen. See the Privacy Policy for details.

8. Intellectual property

Intellectual property rights in the programs, screens, internal instruction text, and all other works comprising the Service belong to us or to their rightful owners. Use of the Service does not transfer or license those rights.

We make no claim to rights in the text you submit or in the text the Service outputs.

9. Disclaimer

The Service is provided as is. We do not guarantee fitness for a particular purpose, that you will obtain the results you expect, that operation will be free of errors or interruption, or that output will be accurate or complete.

In particular, while proofreading by the Service aims to remove electronic watermarks and statistical bias in AI-generated text, it does not guarantee complete removal against every detection method.

We are not liable for loss arising from any of the following causes that are not attributable to us.

• Deletion of saved text once the retention period passes
• Suspension, delay, specification change, or failure of external services we rely on (cloud infrastructure, large language models, payments, email delivery, and the like)
• Natural disaster, changes in law, failure of communication lines, or other force majeure
• Your breach of these terms

Notwithstanding the above, if you suffer loss due to our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, we will compensate you for it.

Only where you suffer loss due to our minor negligence, our liability is limited to loss that would ordinarily arise and is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the loss occurred.

10. Changes, suspension and discontinuation of the Service

We may change the content of the Service, or suspend it temporarily for maintenance or failures.

If we discontinue the Service, we will post a notice on this page and email your registered address at least 30 days before it ends. Purchased coins remaining at that time will be handled as required by law.

11. Use by minors

A minor using the Service must obtain the prior consent of a parent or other legal representative. The same applies to purchasing coins.

12. Exclusion of organised crime groups

You represent and warrant that you are not, and will not become, a member of an organised crime group or other antisocial force. If we find otherwise, we may suspend your account without prior notice.

13. No assignment

You may not assign, transfer, or pledge your position or any rights and obligations under these terms to a third party without our prior written consent.

14. Notices

We contact you by sending email to your registered address or by posting on the Service. If a notice fails to reach you because of a problem with your email address, it is deemed to have arrived when it would normally have arrived.

15. Severability

If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable under law, the remaining provisions remain in full force.

16. Changes to these terms

We may amend these terms within the limits of the law. When we do, we will post the amended terms and the date they take effect on this page before that date. If an amendment is to your disadvantage, we will also email you. If you use the Service on or after the effective date, you are deemed to have agreed to the amended terms.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. In the event of a dispute concerning the Service, 横浜地方裁判所 shall be the exclusive court of first instance by agreement.

Language

This English text is provided for convenience only. The Japanese version is the authoritative text, and it prevails in the event of any discrepancy.
